After running one of the worldās largest petroleum businesses for more than two decades, Indiaās richest man Mukesh Ambani announced Thursday that heās steering his company, Reliance Industries, towards renewable energy withĀ an investment of 75,000 crore Indian rupees ($10 billion)Ā over the next three years.
Ambani said that his company plans to build four gigafactories to manufacture and integrate all critical components of its New Energy ecosystem. āReliance will thus create and offer a fully integrated, end-to-end renewables energy ecosystem,ā he added.
Relianceās shift marks an important moment for the fossil fuel industry.
